Residential Solar Projects
Bringing clean, affordable energy to households across Cameroon, SolkamTech empowers families to reduce their energy costs and enjoy uninterrupted power with our state-of-the-art solar solutions. From urban homes to remote villages, our residential solar systems are making a positive impact on lives every day.
In late 2021, SOLKAMTECH, in collaboration with Solarworx, successfully installed the first MESH DC microgrid in Zalla, a remote community in the Meri district of Diamaré, Cameroon. This project provided solar energy to about 120 inhabitants in a village that had been without electricity for over 40 years. Despite previous government promises to connect them to the national grid, the lack of reliable electricity had led to a rural exodus. The project aimed to enhance living conditions and support local agriculture and trade, with the village’s average monthly income estimated at 60,000 XFA.
In 2020, SolkamTech successfully executed a grant-funded project by Power Africa, distributing 1,200 Solar Home Systems (SHSs) combined with LPG cookers in rural communities of northern Cameroon. The initiative aimed to alleviate the heavy workload on women by providing sustainable energy solutions that replaced traditional charcoal and kerosene. The project utilized SolkamTech’s Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) model, expanding access to clean energy and modern cooking solutions.
In 2021, 45 solar kits were distributed to Baka indigenous households in the commune of Messok, located in the East Region of Cameroon. This initiative, funded by the UNDP under the GEF SGP project, aims to improve energy access, enhance sustainable development, and reduce reliance on traditional, polluting energy sources for these communities.
